- My client is a leading construction company who specialises in working across the residential sector in Glasgow and The Central Belt. With a reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, they are looking to recruit a skilled Civils Estimator to join their dynamic team. Position Overview:
As a Civils Estimator focusing on residential projects, you will play a crucial role in our pre-construction phase, providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring the profitability and success of their client's projects. You will work closely with their project management and design teams to assess project requirements, analyse tender documents, and prepare detailed estimates for civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering works in residential developments.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for tendering purposes.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to better understand project requirements and constraints.
• Utilise estimating software and industry best practices to ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including breakdowns of costs, materials, and labour.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to determine the most cost-effective solutions.
• Participate in tender review meetings and negotiations with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Civils Estimator, ideally within the residential sector.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office applications.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
