Description
Are you passionate about construction and looking to kick-start your career in estimating? My client is a leading main contractor based in Glasgow! They are currently seeking a motivated Trainee Estimator to join their growing company and learn the ropes of estimating in the construction industry.
As a prominent main contractor, they have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across Glasgow and The Central Belt. They specialise in a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and more. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, they pride themselves on completing projects on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

As a Trainee Estimator, you will work closely with their experienced estimating team to learn the fundamental skills necessary for accurate cost estimation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and develop their career in the construction industry. You will be involved in various estimating tasks, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, subcontractor engagement, and bid preparation. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, you will gain valuable knowledge in estimating techniques, construction methods, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:
• Assist senior estimators in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs and detailed material take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings.
• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing information and ensure accurate cost inputs.
• Prepare and submit bid packages and proposals in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the project management team to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.

Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in the construction industry, either through internships, work placements, or academic projects, is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
