Looking to build a long-term career in estimating in construction? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established construction company in Glasgow, operating successfully for over a decade.
We're currently looking for a Trainee Estimator to join their team and be mentored directly by a highly experienced Estimating Director. Whether your background is in Quantity Surveying, design, site work, or even estimating in another industry, this is a great chance to step into a high-demand specialism and grow with a supportive business.
The Opportunity
As a Trainee Estimator, you'll be given full training and hands-on exposure to the full tendering and pre-construction process. Working alongside a knowledgeable and close-knit team, you'll learn how to analyse drawings and specs, liaise with subcontractors, and help build competitive cost plans for live projects.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Glasgow, offering flexibility around working hours and clear progression for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tenders for a range of construction projects
• Review and interpret drawings, technical documents, and specifications
• Contact suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and quotes
• Support the Estimating Director and wider team with administrative and analytical tasks
• Help develop cost plans, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
• Learn and apply industry-standard estimating software and techniques
• Engage with the commercial and delivery teams during handovers
• Stay informed about construction methods, market trends, and pricing developments
What We're Looking For
• Some exposure to the construction industry e.g., Quantity Surveying, design, estimating, or site-based roles with fit out
• Strong interest in pursuing a long-term career in estimating
• Confident with numbers and data, with strong analytical thinking
• Great attention to detail and organisation
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the company
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable working in an office-based team environment
