Position: Senior Application Engineer (SAE)
This role is based in West Edinburgh but will have some itnernational travel required.Reports To: The SAE role will line-report to the CEO and be directed by the CTO
Job Overview
This role involves working alongside the CTO and Engineering Director to understand customer production process requirements and the appropriate application of NiTech’s continuous reaction and crystallisation technology. The SAE will specify potential solutions and liaise with NiTech’s manufacturing partner to deliver appropriate process and equipment design, based on an understanding of customers chemistry and process needs. As a customer facing role there is also an element of technical sales and after-sales support. This is a critical front-end role within NiTech and will contribute to driving growth in the business.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess application of NiTech technology based on customers chemistry and process needs and limitations
- Advise and direct internal application feasibility studies by customers
- Work with contract research partners to deliver feasibility studies when required
- Understand customer needs and constraints as input to the engineering and design considerations by the engineering director and our contract manufacturer
- Define scale-up requirements through pilot and full-scale production levels
- Develop and maintain relationships with R&D, engineering and production teams within target customer base, up to a senior level
- Identify target opportunities for implementation of NiTech Technology. Work with CEO and Engineering Director to exploit these opportunities. Develop and implement stepwise plans for target client development.
- Guide, advise and train NiTech’s engineers, sales agents and business development staff on technical and industry requirement matters
- Promote NiTech technology at conferences and other industry events
- Degree, post graduate or PhD level in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- 5+ years’ experience in a chemical engineering or chemicals/pharma manufacturing environment, ideally with fine or specialty chemicals, or pharma
- Experience of interpreting customer requirements and converting to process definitions
- Knowledge of continuous processing principles
- Experience of influencing customer senior level management
- Willingness to travel internationally to customer sites
Qualifications
