Description
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join one of Scotland’s leading Main Contractors based in Glasgow and the Central Belt.
Construction and Property Recruitment is delighted to bring this new and exciting opportunity to market on behalf of a well-established and hugely successful Main Contractor.
With a vast portfolio of projects underway and more about to start across Glasgow and the Central Belt, this is an immediate opportunity to join this hugely successful construction group as they strengthen their management team and commit to long-term partnerships within Scotland.
As Buyer you will procure all the materials required for building projects and ensure they are provided on time and within allocated budgets. You will play a vital role, ensuring the profitability of business contracts, by purchasing the most cost-effective and appropriate materials for each job.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that tender quotations are obtained and passed to estimating department as per their requirements
• Complete materials schedules timeously and return to site and Construction Manager
• Obtain competitive quotations for all Group materials looking ahead at market conditions and contract and office requirements
• Ensure buying rates secured are better than tender rates wherever possible without compromising the specification
• Timeous ordering of materials to contract programme ensuring contract programmed deliveries are met
• Assist invoice department with any invoice queries. Check with invoice department on source of query
• Price accruals and site transfers to facilitate monthly cost reporting
• Assist in Developing and maintaining the Quality Assurance is 9001:2015 system for approved suppliers
• Assist in developing Buying Department procedures
• Assist in the collection and reporting of supplier and market price information
• Any other duties required by the Company

Personal qualities and experience:
• Previous Buying experience essential within Main Contractor/Construction Industry
• You’ll be a keen team player with a friendly personality and hard-working attitude.
• Be willing to learn our processes and how to use our systems.
• Be organised and ability to manage own workload.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Reliably attends work.
• Experience of using Microsoft Outlook/Office/Excel etc.
