- Description
- Our client is looking for a Estimator/Lead Estimator to assist and advise the company on various commercial issues, manging the estimating department and developing the business throughout the UK.
The duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Estimating
- Working to improve margins at tender stage to completion of contracts.
- Coordination of all bids and allocating them appropriately
- Managing team workload to ensure high quality tenders are submitted within deadlines.
- Interpretation of specifications and measuring from drawings
- Negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain best price
- Preparation and submission of tenders
- Raising and costing variations
- Reviewing contracts to ensure they reflect tenders submitted and margins
- Identifying project risks and building in contingencies
- Preparation and development of terms and conditions
- Liaise with operations team to coordinate handover meetings
- Liaise with operations on progress of tenders won.
- Providing advice, support and mentoring to the team
- Resolving any issues that arise
- Pro-actively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and efficient ways of working within the team
- Developing new business opportunities in various fields, expanding the companies profile throughout the UK.
- Analysis of conversion rates for all bids and driving the team to strive for continual improvement.
- Meeting existing clients and developing relationships with new clients to secure future work.
Ability to read and understand drawings.
Appreciation of construction processes
Good commercial awareness
Managerial experience desirable
The role is on a permanent basis.
