The City of Edinburgh Council has been awarded a contract for around £15m and this is going to support a new community hub. This forms part of the council’s regeneration programme and this is going to take place in North Edinburgh. The project is going to be entering the construction phase after the Muirhouse Library has been demolished. Richard Architects designed it and it is the first in the city. The Hub is going to provide a place for people to meet others, as well as support them with their work, learning journey and skills. The building is going to be state-of-the-art, and it is also going to accommodate up to 185 children. The new library is going to help to provide an additional space for the Edinburgh Arts community and this is going to be a very much connected and inspired part of the community. The community hub is truly the most significant urban project to take place in Scotland, with the idea being to try and tackle things such as poverty and inequality in the area. They are also going to be developing it so that they can then provide over 154 new homes and up to 13 retail units. The people in charge of the development have been trying to revitalise the area for quite some time and there is said to be 1,000 new homes already expected.

Developments like this help to add a lot of value to the area and it is said that it is going to increase in the future. The development is going to be underway shortly and Robertson is leading the charge with the facility so it will be interesting to see how things end up progressing as the days go by.

Construction has finally begun on the Inverness multipurpose centre. This centre is designed for younger people who are suffering from learning disabilities or for those who have very complex needs. The construction is going to consist of around two or three-bedroom flats for younger people and it is going to be suited to those who are up to the age of 30. It is going to have an indoor play centre that comes complete with children’s facilities, and it is also going to have community care. Alongside this development, there is going to be a café, meeting spaces and of course, an outdoor garden which will help people to spend more time outdoors. The principal contractor has come out with a statement, saying that the whole thing is going to last for around 12 months and that the project is being done under the Elsie Normington Foundation.

This foundation was set up in the year 2013 and since then they have awarded Compass Building the chance to take on the contract for the Haven Centre. Elsie Normington has said that the work can now start, and this is going to mark a very significant milestone on the journey. It is also going to help to make the centre life-changing. The fact that the work has started marks a significant milestone in the journey for the people who are working with the centre, and it is also going to give adults the chance to expand their lives with enrichment. It is going to be very interesting to see how things come together and it is also going to be exciting to see how things change from this point on. Who knows what the future holds, but right now, this movement is proving to be positive for the special needs community.

The team who are working behind the Dunard Centre are now trying to process the final design details. They are also trying to prepare as much work as they can on-site. This is going to help them to secure the other £15m they need to get the work underway as well. A meeting has taken place and this has confirmed that there is a funding package for the venue and it is being supported by the Bank of Scotland. They have confirmed that there is going to be £10m from the UK and the Scottish government, with another £5m from the City of Edinburgh council. The music has been given the green light by the planning authorities and it has been funded through a lot of philanthropic donations. They have been seeking more support and they have been given help from the Dunard Fund as well. It has been underpinned by the £25m in support from the UK government as well and this is proving to be very helpful

The Royal Bank of Scotland has worked to support the project by providing a long-term lease for the land that is required and it is going to be the first purposely-built music centre in the whole of Edinburgh, at least to have been built in the last 100 years. Joanna Baker who is the director of the Impact Scotland has come out to say that Edinburgh is a diverse and growing region and that in building the infrastructure, they are helping to create a brand-new generation of music as well as getting the endorsements they need to support artists from all around the world. This is very good, to say the least and it just goes to show how good it is going to be for the area and the surrounding hospitality businesses.

I wish you well for the future, Donald, and have enjoyed working with you over the years. In particular I must thank you for placing me with Havelock Europa in 2005 which gave me a much needed leg up after an extremely difficult time in my life. My successes since then have been largely down to the opportunities that placement presented which in turn have allowed me to lead a fairly comfortable life and look forward to impending retirement.
"We've worked with C&P Recruitment on a number of very successful placements, both permanent and temporary. C&P worked extremely hard to understand the culture and vision for our business so that the candidates they put forward were a great fit for our business. C&P also work with us on a long term partnered basis to genuinely understand how they can help us now and in the future. I would have no hesitation in recommending C&P Recruitment to be a key part of any construction recruitment strategy."
C&P Recruitment have been fantastic in every step when sourcing work for me. They kept me informed and explained each stage clearly. They are very personable, genuine and took the time to understand what I was looking for in my career. Very grateful and would highly recommend C&P Recruitment.
