Description
Our client is a market leader in Waste Management based in E. Lothian. They are  currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join their successful team.

This is maternity cover for 9 months starting around September with potential to be retained afterwards depending on performance.

Ideal candidate will have some sales experience combined with a developed network of client contacts in construction.

8am – 4.45pm from Monday to Friday with unpaid break of 45 minutes per day.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To promote and develop the business of the Company
  • To ensure customer satisfaction and to uphold the Company’s reputation for good service and reliability.
  • Obtain new business for the company by finding new opportunities
  • Service the skip hire needs of existing customers, liaising with builders and brokers
    • Visit existing customers and make sure they are happy with the service they receive from us
    • Service the administration needs of new and existing customers
    • Visit customers on a regular basis
    • Provide competitive, cost effective but realistic quotes for customers
    • Provide weekly reports to Directors within the deadline
    • Ensure directors are informed of any important news
      • Credit reference all potential companies prior to expending time pursuing their business so as to avoid dealing with customers who could default on paying their accounts
      • Maintain and develop an effective relationship with all customers
        • Read the weekly credit controllers report and liaise with office manager, using your contacts to obtain overdue payments when required
        • Read and use the Glenigan Report to familiarise yourself with up and coming new sites which may provide an opportunity for the company
        • Deliver promotional gifts to customers in the run up to Christmas
        • Liaise with directors about approaching competitor’s customers.  Director will explain the gentleman’s agreement arrangement
        • Prepare for and attend customer meetings with the directors, providing customer information in advance of meeting
        • Provide a paper trail for all price increases communicated to customers by you to confirm their acceptance of such
        • Deal with paperwork in a timely manner as requested including pricing and account queries
        • Copy the office manager into any emails where pricing or type of skip provision agreed so that the correct information is allocated to the customer
Requirements:
  • Great organisational and management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and to work accurately and effectively under pressure
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
  • Reliable
  • Full UK Driving Licence desirable due to site location
 Essential:
  • Previous experience of business development role (Waste Management desirable)
  • Knowledge of current market
  • Customer service skills / experience
 Remuneration package:

Salary £25k - £30k per year plus commssion of up to £8k per year. Company car and fuel will be provided for private and business use.
