- Description
- We are currently seeking a Quantity Surveying Assistant to join our clients Building Services team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, efficient Quantity Surveying service supporting building maintenance contracts for both internal and external clients.
The Role
Reporting to the Business Manager, you will assist in the administration and delivery of Quantity Surveying services across a range of projects. You will take responsibility for the cost management of allocated projects from inception through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
·Assist in the administration of Quantity Surveying functions as directed by the Building Services Management Team
·Prepare tender and contract documentation in line with current regulations and procedures
·Evaluate tenders and produce detailed project reports with recommendations
·Manage project costs, including valuations, interim payments, and final accounts
·Produce accurate budget cost reports and financial forecasts
·Liaise with procurement teams and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery
·Provide timely and accurate information to senior management
·Support the development of systems, procedures, and reporting processes
·Deliver high standards of customer care and maintain strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
·Assist in training and development activities and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development
About You
You will be a motivated and organised individual with a strong understanding of Quantity Surveying principles and practices.
Essential Requirements:
·HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
·Experience within a contractor-based Quantity Surveying environment
·Strong numerical and analytical skills
·Experience with interim valuations and final accounts
·Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook)
·Excellent communication and negotiation skills
·Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
·Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Moray
Desirable:
·Degree (BSc) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
·Experience within a Local Authority, particularly housing maintenance
·Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
·Familiarity with job management systems and quality assurance processes
